The ingredients needed to make Beef pilau:
  1. Take 1/4 kg beef
  2. Make ready 1 kg rice Pishori
  3. Get 150 ml oil
  4. Take 4 big onions
  5. Prepare 2 cubes maggi
  6. Get 1/2 teaspoon salt
  7. Take 1 table spoon garlic
  8. Take 1 table spoon ginger
  9. Make ready 2 table spoons pilau masala

Make the pilau masala: In a medium bowl, combine the cumin, paprika, cardamom, black pepper, and cloves. Great use of beef stew meat! Wonderful beef stew with coriander, coconut and tomatoes. This is a dish from East Africa, but has lots of Indian influence.

Steps to make Beef pilau:
  1. Boil the beef until its tender, do not disregard the beef stock, keep it aside.
  2. Grind the pilau masala{ cloves 50g, cardamom 50g, cinnamon 50g and cummin
  3. Cut the onions and set aside
  4. Fry the onions until they start to turn brown, add the pilau masala, stir continously and add maggi cubes, fry as you stir until everything is incorporated. Add the beef and stir to mix well.
  5. Add the beef stock water And always remember the ratio is 1;2, meaning 1 cup of rice, you'll need 2 cups of water. As the water starts to boil add the salt and finally the rice. Cover and let it cook. Remember, no soy sauce is required nor tomato paste for that matter.
  6. As the water reduces, reduce the heat to avoid burning and sticking.

If any pilau is left over, store in the fridge for up to two days. Shape into small patties, and pan fry with a little oil and serve with ketchup or a relish of your choice. I use beef instead of chicken in my pilau but it can also be made plain with no meat at all. Add the Beef and then the pilau mix. Let the spices burn a bit and add salt.
